SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:


As of April 11, 2024, Oprelle Publications is currently accepting book submissions.

We are looking for new and intriguing voices in a variety of categories.

Our team is particularly fond of YA, historical fiction, creative nonfiction, metaphysical reads, and middle-school books. We are also open to self-help, children's and poetry books.  We enjoy any book with a unique style and voice that readers just can’t put down.

There are 2 ways to submit here: 

I. For Hybrid Publication:

FOR YOUR INITIAL SUBMISSION, PLEASE SEND A MINIMUM OF 10 PAGES OF YOUR MANUSCRIPT AS A WORD DOC TO SUBMITTABLE. 

You do not need a cover letter, biography, or synopsis at this time. But You must have your full

manuscript ready to submit upon request. You are welcome to send the full

manuscript now if you would prefer. No other materials are required upon initial hybrid imprint submission. 

Our Hybrid Imprints are categorized in these ways:'

Bun Run Press - Children's books and Middle-school stories.

MindSync - YA and adult Adventure, Sci-Fi, Romance, Self-Help, and Educational texts

Peace & Latitude - Contemporary social commentaries or deep lessons -  Historical Fiction as education and entertainment. Both fiction and nonfiction. 

Velvet - Personal poetry collections.

( Note: Scholarships covering half or more of hybrid costs are available and offered to selected authors.) 


I. For Traditional Publication:

FOR YOUR INITIAL SUBMISSION, PLEASE SEND YOUR FULL MANUSCRIPT AS A WORD DOC TO SUBMITTABLE. WE ALSO ENCOURAGE YOU TO SEND AN EMAIL TO OPRELLEPUB@GMAIL.COM WITH THE FOLLOWING:  

  • Any social media presence and following
  • Your marketing plan 
  • Your specific or niche audience
  • A brief biography about your specific qualifications to write your book. 

Make sure to add your name and book title so that we can link them together. 


NOTE: If Oprelle Publications is interested, you should hear something back

from us within 4-8 weeks. If we are not interested, you will not hear back

from us.

If you do not get response, please do not let that reflect on the talent of your

work. Much of publishing has to do with having the right project, at the right

place and the right time. No matter what, keep writing.

Any topic or style is acceptable. Even though this anthology will be called Matter, all that is expected is that your poetry reflects emotions and thoughts coming from the depths of you. You need not write about a particular word. We just want you to know that your talent with words can matter to others.

We are so happy you are here because that means you are a fellow lover of words. The annual Matter Poetry Contest is a favorite with Team Oprelle. This open contest makes for extremely intriguing reading for our judges, as well as makes for as a great finished book of winning poetry in the end. ***These top three winners will be published with a headshot and biography in the Matter - Award Winning Poetry XXIV anthology.

POETRY CONTEST INFORMATION


Eligibility
The contest is open to anyone age fourteen and up who writes poetry. Entries may be published
or unpublished work.


POETRY CONTEST RULES, TERMS AND CONDITIONS


1. Your information must be able to be verified.

2. Your poem can be written in any poetic style...even unrhymed free verse!

3. All material submitted must be original in its entirety.

(Your work may be checked for plagiarism, so do not copy another’s words.)

4. You may enter as many poems/times as you like. Just keep in mind that each separate

entry costs 15.00 (Very worth a great chance to be published. – we will be choosing up

to 150 entries for our annual “Matter” Anthology.)

5. Your poem must be written in English.

6. Contest entries must be at least 3 lines, but no longer than 40 lines. Your poem

title does not count as a line.

7. Your entry should preferably be typed and submitted using Submittable - as a word

document.

We will also accept direct mail of entry fee and poem submitted to:

8. We will get back to you in an average of 30 days of contest closing, but ONLY if you

make it through round two of judging, becoming a “to be published” finalist.

9. We cannot respond to every entry, so please do not inquire.

10. Poems, on occasion, are sent by mail. Please understand that these poems will not be

returned.

11. Parents may submit on behalf of their child, ages 14-17.


By entering, you accept that if selected, your poem may appear online and in print in affiliation with Oprelle Publications, LLC. Your poem, or lines from your poem, may be featured in the company’s blog, newsletter, and/or on various social media accounts. Submitting to this contest will automatically add you to the company’s email list, allowing you to stay up to date on upcoming contests and company announcements.

JUDGING

Contest entries are judged by some combination of:

  • Editors at Oprelle Publications
  • Award-winning poets
  • Poetry instructors
  • MFA’s in Creative Writing and/or poetry

     

PUBLICATION
Contestants who reach the finalist stage of the contest will be featured in the “Matter” Anthology No purchase is required to be included in this anthology. There will be no royalties paid to contributors of anthologies. This anthology will be available for purchase through Amazon.com, and possibly other bookstores worldwide. We reserve the right to not publish a poem for any reason.

COPYRIGHT
“Matter” Anthology will be copyrighted as a compilation. All individual poetry remains the property of the author.
